First thing to note is that the color status for last week, week 16, has changed since that report was released. Late last week we received notice of an additional 60 cases that occurred between 4/18 and 4/24. These additional cases increased the weekly case count for week 16 enough to push us into Orange status.
Currently, our case count for week 17 shows a small decrease from the weeks prior and current data shows that our color status for week 17 is orange, however as cases continue to come in through the remainder of the week that could change. Most of our cases are coming from our younger age groups, with the 10–19-year age group having the highest percent increase in cases out of all age groups over the last 7 days.
Deaths have remained low and can likely be attributed to the vaccination efforts in our 65+ population, as our data has shown they are most susceptible to hospitalization and death due to Covid. We now have over 60% of our 65+ population who have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine and just over 48% are fully vaccinated. Of those 18 and older (the population currently eligible to receive the vaccine), 35.27% have received at least one dose and 23.73% have been fully vaccinated.
