Jefferson County Health Department Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Hillsboro Facility

January 23, 2024 Brianne Zwiener

Hillsboro, Missouri— The Jefferson County Health Department (JCHD) marked a significant milestone last week with the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility located at 1515 Peach Tree Plaza Drive, Hillsboro, MO 63050. The event, held on January 17th, 2024, commenced construction for a modern and innovative facility that will serve the community's public health needs.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including the JCHD Board of Trustees and the administrative team, County Executive Dennis Gannon, Hillsboro Mayor Buddy Russell, and several others associated with the project.

Expected to be completed in early 2025, it is designed to meet the evolving needs of both JCHD programs and services and community needs. The new facility will have a clinical area with several exam rooms, a drive-up testing laboratory, blood draw stations, a large conference room for board meetings, training, and events, designated parking for the agency’s mobile healthcare units, and much more. The new facility project is estimated to cost a total of $9.7 million.

"We are thrilled to embark on this journey that will not only modernize our infrastructure but also elevate the quality of programs and services we provide to the residents of Jefferson County," said Kelley Vollmar, Executive Director of the Jefferson County Health Department. “A new facility has been eagerly anticipated for quite some time. We are enthusiastic about advancing to the next phase and bringing this long-awaited project to fruition.”

As construction progresses, the Jefferson County Health Department remains dedicated to keeping the community informed about the developments and milestones achieved. Regular updates will be provided via their website and YouTube channel to ensure transparency and to celebrate the progress made toward the completion of this facility.

The Jefferson County Health Department extends its appreciation to all partners, stakeholders, and community members who have supported and contributed to the realization of this project.
