2008 Missouri Fish Advisory Released This Week
On February 28, the
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) released the 2008
Missouri Fish Advisory, an annual report focusing on the benefits of eating fish
and which fish species should be eaten in limited quantities, or not eaten at
all, due to environmental contaminants. DHSS bases the advisory on annual fish
studies conducted at various Missouri lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams by the
Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Missouri Department of Natural
Resources (DNR). The complete Fish Advisory is available on the DHSS website at
www.dhss.mo.gov/fishadvisory.
A summary of the fish advisory is also available in the Missouri Department
of Conservation's (MDC's) A Summary of Missouri Fishing Regulations
handbook, which can be found wherever fishing licenses are sold beginning March
1st or on MDC's website at <http://www.mdc.mo.gov/>.
