Communicable Disease
The Jefferson County Health Department conducts prevention
and control of communicable disease through the process of active
and passive surveillance, community education and information, and disease
case investigation.
From the receipt of a disease case report the Health Dept conducts an investigation
to insure the safety and health and well-being of involved individuals. Our responsibility
focuses on identifying the source of a communicable disease and all susceptible
contacts and provide the most current information and recommendations to prevent
its spread.
