Public Health Nurse Supervisor

The Public Health Nursing Supervisor (PHNS) is an advanced public health nursing position responsible for managing staff, overseeing patient care and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. The position is charged with assigning staff and monitoring their activities, recruiting and training new personnel and serving as an interface between clinical staff, patients, community members, and agency administration. This position requires advanced public health nursing experience with individuals, groups, agencies, care providers and community groups working to assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidenced based programs and projects.

An employee in this class is responsible for the educational, investigative and community organization activities connected with community health nursing programs and performs nursing services in a clinical based setting. Additionally, the employee will experience involvement in community based programs involving preventative education, immunization clinics and school clinical based specialized functions.
