Bake Sale Restrictions and Requirements

The following types of home-made cooked desserts are considered a food safety risk and are restricted for sale at bake sales:

• All cream pies
• All whipped cream topped pies
• All whipped topping filled pies
• All meringue topped pies
• Cream filled pastries
• Boston cream pies (pudding filled cake)
• Cheese cakes or cheese danish
• Pumpkin pies
• Custard or custard pies
• Pudding or pudding pies
• Mince filled cookies or pies
• Flan

While this is not an exhaustive list, the concept is to exclude items that require refrigeration after they are cooked. The Jefferson County Health Department thanks you for helping protect the good health of your fellow citizens.
